Muhammadu Buhari President to remain silent on Saraki election till after APC meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari will not speak on the election of Senator Bukola Saraki as Senate President until the All Progressives Congress (APC) has held a meeting, his spokesperson says.
Saraki emerged President of the upper legislative house today, June 9, 2015, after reportedly shunning a meeting called by Buhari to broker peace in the party.
The President’s media aide, Garba Shehu is said to have stated that Buhari would not issue a statement on the development until he could hold a meeting with the APC, according to Sahara Reporters.
“Pres. @MBuhari will not issue a statement over the election of @bukolasaraki as Senate Pres. until he meets with @APCNigeria - Garba Shehu,” the online news platform tweeted.

Buhari had called the meeting to resolve the crisis which had erupted in the party after Senator Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila were chosen as the APC’s sole candidates for the positions of Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively.
