A commercial sex worker in Lagos has been dragged to court for resisting arrest by stripping herself naked in public.
The Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate's Court sitting in Lagos was thrown into shock when a police prosecutor revealed that a 33-year-old commercial sex worker, Blessing Uche, resisted arrest by stripping herself naked in public when the police wanted to take her in for allegedly stealing the sum of N17, 800 from her customer.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the prostitute who operates from a brothel located at the Railway Line in Otto area of the state, was accused of stealing the money from one Shaibu Umoru who had engaged her services on June 6, but when she was about to be arrested, she resisted and instead, stripped naked in public, making it difficult for officers to carry out their duties.
Uche is now facing a three-count charge of assault, stealing and resisting arrest.
"She stripped herself naked in public and caused public nuisance and disturbance."
Uche pleaded not guilty to the charges and Chief Magistrate Olatunbosun Abolarinwa granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 while adjourning the case to July 8 for mention.
