An Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded one Lawal Adesina, 35, for alleged attempted robbery of passengers in a Lagos to Abuja bound luxury bus with registration number LA 624 KJA.
The Magistrate, Olayinka Omole, ordered that the accused remain behind bars in Olokuta Prison pending the receipt of legal advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecution.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Martins Olowofeso , had told the court that the accused person, along with others still at large, allegedly armed himself with cut to size single barrel gun and attempted to robbed the passengers bus.
He said the accused committed the offence on June 13, 2015 at about 2 a.m. along Iwaro-Oka/Isua express road in Akoko South East Local Government of Ondo State.
The offences according to the prosecutor are contrary to Sections 6(a)(b), and 2(1) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act Cap R11 Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the court did not take the plea of the accused, and adjourned the case till Aug.6, 2015 for legal advice.
