Kashamu UK courts didn’t exonerate Senator– FG

The FG said further, on Friday, June 19, 2015, that the claims of Kashamu’s supposed exoneration were untrue and misleading and also aimed at achieving a sinister motive.

The Federal Government has denied reports that Senator Buruji Kashamu was exonerated of drug charges by two courts in the United Kingdom.
The FG said further, on Friday, June 19, 2015, that the claims of Kashamu’s supposed exoneration were untrue and misleading and also aimed at achieving a sinister motive.
The statements were made by Counsel to the Attorney General of the Federation, Emeka Ngige while speaking to journalists at the Federal High Court in Lagos.
“You see, that is the misleading aspect of the whole thing. Kashamu was not tried before the British Courts. He only went through extradition proceeding and the extradition application failed based on the fact before the court,” Ngige said.
“Now, that does not and cannot constitute a bar on further extradition proceeding or trial for drug crime in any other country or other court,” he added.
The Inspector General of Police, stated on Thursday, June 18, that the UK Government said that Kashamu had been prosecuted before a London court and exonerated of all charges.
