Lane Bryant, a plus-size retailer has taken shots at popular lingerie brand Victoria's Secret's portrayal of women with its new campaign called 'I’m No Angel'
The
campaign launched yesterday, April 9, 2015. It's goal is to prove that
'all women are sexy' regardless of society's stereotypical views on
beauty, shape and size.
The ads which are in black and white were shot by photographer Cass Bird.
"Our
#ImNoAngel campaign is designed to empower ALL women to love every part
of herself [sic]" said Lane Bryant CEO and President Linda Heasley said in a statement.
"Lane Bryant firmly believes that she is sexy and we want to encourage her to confidently show it, in her own way" she further stated.
The
adverts will appear on television, in print and on public
transportation, and in Lane Bryant stores and social media platforms.
Victoria's
Secret came under heat for its 'body shaming' ads last year. Over
30,000 people signed a petition asking the company to rethink its
wording. Under pressure the company changed the campaign's slogan to A
Body For Everybody.
